With summer coming up soon and fitness regimens on the minds of most people we decided to sit down for a quick Q & A with fitness model and athlete Olympia Ridge. Her philosophy as well as ours is that fitness and living an overall healthy life isn’t just seasonal activity but an overall lifestyle. And that can actually be fun! We teamed up with Olympia who wore our W23 Crop Top Bikini earlier this month for a photoshoot in Miami. After the we wanted to know more about her fitness background and philosophy. Read below to read what she had to say…
Are you originally from Miami?
I was born in Palm Beach, Florida but was raised in Houston, Texas. My family moved to Houston after hurricane Andrew hit our home in 1992. Once I graduated High School, I was accepted to Rollins College in Orlando, Florida, so for most of my life I have been between Texas and Florida!
How did you get into fitness and swimwear modeling?
I have always been an athlete my entire life. My father was in the Olympics, which is how I got my name Olympia, and with that kind of name you have a bit of pressure to be good at sports haha. I played sports all throughout my life, and when I decide to go to college and not follow through with joining a sports team, I decided to dedicate my time in training myself for my own health and physical well being. Soon that passion alone turned into inspiring my friends, sorority sisters, and later even strangers. After so many people reaching out to me about my training and nutrition regimen, I decided that I could really make a difference by getting into fitness modeling. This platform would be able to give me “more of a voice” in making a difference in the health and fitness world, as well as make a positive impact in the modeling world by promoting a healthy lifestyle. Naturally, being fit and healthy allows you to also have some opportunities in the Swimwear industry, and so I have taken advantage of these opportunities by going for it!
Why is fitness important to you?
Fitness is important to me for many reasons. Most people would probably say to stay in shape or “look good”, but for me it’s so much more than that. Fitness is a resource to gain happiness, relieve stress, and even help let go of ‘negative energy’. I can be in the worst mood, and then go on a run and feel like a completely rejuvenated person. Not only does it make me happy, but of course the health benefits are great.
Lastly, what are your thoughts on Graffinis Swimwear?
Well if I didn’t love Graffinis Swimwear I probably wouldn’t be interviewing right now haha. My adoration for Graffinis started when I found them on IG and went on to their website. Once I read more about the background of what Graffinis stood for, and spoke to the creators of the great brand, I realized Graffinis really stood out from the swimwear of today. With the swim industry booming, it’s hard to tell what brands are really worth the buy or not, but with Graffinis uniqueness, transparency, and good vibes it’s a no brainer that this swim is a game changer!
